The EMBEC Scientific Award for the best paper in the field of biomedical engineering
|
|
| The Unit of Medical Technology & Intelligent Information Systems has been granted the EMBEC Scientific Award for the best paper in the field of biomedical engineering published in peer reviewed journal by a young investigator since 2003. According to the guidelines and selection criteria, the award was granted to Vasilios Protopappas for the paper, entitled: “An Ultrasound Wearable System for the Monitoring and Acceleration of Fracture Healing in Long Bones” published in IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, vol 52, No 9, pp. 1597-1608, 2005, with co-authors Dina Baga, Dimitrios.I. Fotiadis, Aristidis Likas, Athanasios Papachristos and Konstantinos N. Malizos. The EMBEC Scientific Award was presented on the occasion of the 3rd European Medical and Biological Engineering Conference (EMBEC) held in Prague, Czech Republic, November 20-25, 2005.

Gold Award for the AUBADE Project
|
|
The Research project "AUBADE": Wearable EMG Augmentation System for
Robust Emotional Understanding" was awarded with a gold medal for its
innovation in the "Medicine-Healthcare" category of the
"EUREKA-BRUSSELS - 53rd World Exhibition of Innovation, Research and
New Technology 2004" exhibition which was held in Brussels, 16-21
November 2004.
The Medical Technology and Intelligent Information Systems Unit is the
Technical Manager of the Project. Assoc. Professor Dimitrios I.
Fotiadis is the Project Coordinator, Mr. George Ganiatsas along with
Mr. Aristeidis Anagnostakis are the Technical Managers and Mr.
Christos Katsis is the key Scientific Personnel and Mrs. Evi Kalampakioti is
responsible for the administrative management of the project.
